A Three Dimensional Mixed Media Still Life



Fruits, berries, and foliage...arranged in blue painted tin conical base
One of the many masterful creations by the late Doris Stauble of Wiscasset, Maine.

Hanging Cupboard with Glazed Doors
Pine and poplar
Possibly Pennsylvania
First Half 19th Century



The rectangular case with applied crown molding above a pair of glazed doors having four lights each. The doors open to a simple interior, centered by one horizontal shelf. This nifty display cupboard is in old, probably original paint; sage green-grayish sides, front stiles and door divider in mustard yellow, with door frame and mullions painted red.

George II
Silver Signet & Wax Holder - SOLD



Octagonal wax holder signet engraved with roses, thistles, and daffodils (England, Scotland, Wales) along the top and acanthus leaves along the bottom; the lid is engraved along the sides and top; the center band is alternately engraved with images of men in caps holding jugs and ale glasses as well as a woman doing the same, one man is straddling a cask with the initials "E. B." over "1733;" on the bottom is a coat of arms, the shield decorated w/ the image of a man wearing a hat rowing a boat while an angel in the other end rows in the opposite direction, above the helm and mantling is an anchor; the piece is in very fine condition with one pinhead dent on an edge noted for accuracy, no breaks or repairs, the lid in excellent working condition; no maker's mark. (3 3/8-inches long.)

Windsor Candle-Stand
In good old dry red paint
Circa 1800



The original dished top with incised decoration on threaded shaft; the top has a 2.25-inch wood bushing that appears to be a later 19th century addition. Most certainly to accommodate "in-use" wear. The delicately turned baluster shaft is received by the block that is raised on four delicately turned legs. Appears to have once been a adjustable candle-stand...now missing upper half of threaded shaft and arm with candle sockets.
Dimensions: 27.75-inches high, 14.25-inch diameter.

Staffordshire Alphabet Plate
Old Mother Hubbard



Brown transfer "Nursery Tales" alphabet plate with illustration of Old Mother Hubbard. The plate has polychrome enamel decoration and a 1930 registration mark on the reverse. It remains in very good condition. Measures 7.25-inches in diameter.

This box made of poplar has a rectangular lid with applied molding over the conforming case with lidded till; raised on Cupid's bow cutout side profile...the front with applied scratch-molded bracket base.

Enamelware Alphabet Plate



White enamelware plate with black decoration in form of alphabet, the names of the months, the face of a clock with Roman numerals and the numbers 1 through 12. The plate has no marks. There are some chips along the edge, one on the face of the plate and wear on clock face; there is also a chip on the reverse, all of which is noted for accuracy. The plate has no dents or breaks. Measures 8.75-inches in diameter.

Tongs...in the form of human legs-probably ember tongs



These tongs are chisel cut and filed of iron, and retain the original hand-forged hanging device. Nice old surface, having traces of oyster-white paint.

Miniature Watercolor Portrait
Naval Officer
Early 19th century



Profile portrait of a naval officer in watercolor, gouache, and pencil on paper oval; ebonized wood frame w/ stamped brass oval and gilt brass hanger of Tudor Rose, thistle and shamrock; Edward Jeffries is written in pencil on the backing cardboard, the name is also handwritten on a sticker that has "Society for the Preservation / of New England Antiquities" printed in blue, a strip of paper with the name and the date "1792" typed has also been pasted onto the reverse. The paper is toned, and there are some small chips on the edge of the frame. (3-inches by 2.25-inches, 5.5-inches by 4.75-inches framed.)
