Broad sweeping red brush strokes within faux inlay centered by faux cross banding against a drab yellow ground; retains interior vapor barrier molding, original iron hardware; missing lock hasp, short and fairly tight shrinkage crack to top, else fine.

A domed top over a conforming case with wire handles, iron hinges, and iron lock; the interior was wallpapered during the early 20th century. It's all about the decoration; a kaleidoscope of fancy paint decoration; green paint scumbled against yellow in quarter and full-round designs. The entire surface is ornamented with putty rolled decoration. The lid displays some red paint. (H: 11.25"; W: 24"; D: 11.5".)

A common dovetail constructed trunk in uncommon and wonderful robin's egg blue paint. The trunk remains in a high state of originality with only minor losses as shown; including lock hasp; directly above the lock is an imperfection resultant of the vestiges of time. (H: 12.5"; W: 26"; D: 12.5")

Paint Decorated Dome-Top Box

The slightly domed rectangular lid is received by moldings applied to the interior of the box; simple lapped construction. Black on red decoration atop of which is bronze powder stenciling; centering the top is a large lyre surmounted by crown-like rays flanked either side by columns on plinths with large orb finials joined by rows or rectangles that probably represent bricks. The sides are similarly decorated with smaller congruent stenciling. The arched end panels of lid are stenciled H.S. Warner Pike; front stenciled with saw-tooth design on lid; front panel with decorative pattern...diamonds alternating with eight tiny squares within rectangle as depicted. The box and paint remain in very good original condition with only as expected wear; lock hasp is missing. (Height: 8 inches; width: 19.75 inches; depth: 8.5 inches.)
